What is better than Wix for a small business?
It depends what bothered you: price, speed, design or doing it yourself. An option for each.
See the templatesThe short answer: there is nothing better than Wix at being Wix. If what you want is a drag and drop builder you run yourself, Squarespace is the usual alternative and it is a matter of taste. What people really mean when they ask this is that something about Wix bothered them, and the better option depends on what it was.
If it was the price
Wix Core is £16 a month. Squarespace is £17. There is no cheaper builder that is noticeably better. If price is the issue, the saving is in not paying for things you do not use: apps, premium plans, a shop you never opened.
If it was the speed
Wix sites can be slow on phones because of everything loaded behind the scenes. A plain, static website loads in a fraction of the time. That is what ours are: no page builder running on the page, just the page.
If it was the design
Wix gives you freedom and that is the problem: most small business sites built on it look like someone had freedom. A template designed for your trade looks better than a blank canvas, and you cannot break it.
If it was doing it yourself
This is the big one. Wix is a tool. If you do not want to be the web designer, the better option is any arrangement where someone else does the work: a freelancer at £1,200 and up, or a template filled in and looked after for £99 and £20 a month.
Moving off Wix
You can take your domain with you. You cannot export the pages, but you do not need to. Paste your Wix address into our importer and we fill a template with your words and photos so you can see it before deciding.
