How many pages should a small business website have?
One is enough for most. When a second page earns its place, when five do, and which are a waste.
See the templatesThe short answer: as few as say everything. For most sole traders and small shops that is one page. Pages earn their place when they answer a different question for a different visitor. They are a waste when they exist to make the menu look fuller.
One page is enough when
- You do one thing in one area
- Your prices fit in a short list
- People mostly want your number and your hours
A second or third page earns its place when
- You have a service that people search for on its own: "boiler repair" as well as "plumber"
- You serve two very different customers, such as weddings and corporate
- You have a lot of photos and a gallery page keeps the front page quick
Five or more when
You are a studio, a venue, a school or a shop with categories. Each page is something someone searches for by itself.
Pages that are a waste
- "Welcome" or "Home" that says nothing the front page could not
- "Mission and values"
- A blog with two posts from 2019
- "Testimonials" as a separate page nobody visits; put three on the front
Our templates
They are one page on purpose: everything a customer needs in one scroll, with the phone number at the top. If you need more, the built for you option adds as many as you need.
