Do tutors need a website?

Parents find tutors by asking around, then check you out online. What the site should say.

By Kai M, Deliberate Design.

The short answer: most tutoring comes by recommendation, so a website is rarely how a parent first hears of you. It is what they look at next. A parent who has been given your name will search it, and what they find decides whether they ring. A page with your subjects, your availability and your checks is the difference between a call and a quiet no.

What parents are checking

  • That you are who the other parent said. A name, a photo, a line about your background
  • What you teach and for which years. 11 plus, SATs, GCSE maths, whatever is true
  • Whether you have a DBS check
  • Whether you have space. "Currently taking: Year 5, Tuesdays 4pm" saves everyone a phone call
  • What other parents say

What to put at the top

Your availability. A tutor's page that says what slots are open this term gets the right enquiries and none of the wrong ones. Update it when a slot fills. With your own login that takes a minute.

What it costs

A website builder is £16 to £17 a month and you build it, checked on 2 October 2026. Tutoring directories take a cut or a monthly fee and list you next to fifty others. Our tutor template is £99 to set up and £20 a month. It has a box at the top for what you are currently taking, your subjects as cards, and testimonials from parents. Your web address and hosting are included.

One honest note

If you are full and have a waiting list, you do not need this. A website is for the tutor with two empty slots on a Wednesday.

See it with your name on it. Our tutor template is £99 then £20 a month. Fill it in for free and only pay when you want it live.
